Lexi Hooper started riding Gnu boards this season and she is hooked! She rides the B-Street how it's supposed to be ridden... on anything, anywhere, on any type of snow. Lexi had a great season, competing in Nationals for the first time and regularly shooting with her brother Zach Hooper (he shot these photos of her). She just hung out in Aspen to take advantage of the summer conditions on the 'patch'. She drives a pickup, and she rips! Check out her video and some photos that might make you want to head to Aspen to go snowboarding this summer!
There is still alot of snow out here in colorado so I went out to Berthoud pass with some friends to hit this log they found. It was perfect for airing over it. Oh and I am definitely loving the B-Street Banana Traction! All the next years gnu's rock! and I loved the B-nice!

This is Bryn in the first aid room at Northstar resort. She hurt her knee at The Launch, a Snowboarder mag, Nike 6.0 superpark event. This was Bryn's second superpark appearance in the last couple weeks. She rode hard in the MsSuperpark, then the Roxy Chicken Jam, and she killed it the first couple days of the Launch too, getting some really good photos off the hip. Despite a hard hit on the knuckle of the big jump, Bryn stayed cool. She got a complimentary sled ride down to the aid room and spent the afternoon listening to grown men in tight ski pants and women in jeans cry over injury's far less painful than Bryn's. Here she is checking out her neighbor with the orange ski racing pants. Think good thoughts for Bryn, she gets her MRI next week!
Amy Purdy from AAS brought home some medals from Nationals! She stood on the podium for every event she entered and took home the silver in Boardercross. Amy is a talented snowboarder, a beautiful girl, a model, an actress, and a double amputee. She is an inspiration to many and is always working to create opportunities for others. Congratulations to Amy!
The field was stacked with the best up and coming girls in the hp right now, and she easily threw together the winning run. This tops off an amazing season for Kaitlyn! Just missing the podium in 4th was Faye Gulini, who has steadily been throwing down top 5 runs in hp and ss all season on her B-Nice!
... and after Nationals Kaitlyn is heading to Aspen for Gretchen Bleiler's Snow Angels event. She was invited by Gretchen to join an elite crew of pipe riders for a unique women's event that somehow combines pipe competition with yoga, cooking classes, environmental awareness and partying in Aspen, spring break style. Sounds fun, congratulations Kaitlyn!
Faye Gulini following up her 4th place finish at last weekend's Killington Grand Prix, placed 6th today at the US Open slopestyle! Faye came into the finals as the #1 qualifier from the day before! She battled classic east coast foggy, icy, cold conditions and, from what I've heard, a pretty gnarly fall on on one of her runs, to beat out a heavy crew of finalists. Faye rides the B-Nice 148 mtx. Danny just won the Vans Cup Superpipe for a second year in a row! This time Danny Won it on his next years Magne-Traction Verti-Ghoull. His board is now available with Banana Technology (BTX) licensed by Lib Technologies. (Danny spinning cab 10 nose, Photo: George Crosland)

Kaitlyn Farrington is named to the 2008 Jr Worlds team! She is going to Russia next month, and she is among a small, elite group of riders representing the US. Kaitlyn also won the HP at the Mt Hood Meadows Revolution tour stop! Bryn put in some solid runs and places 8th... not bad for someone who doesn't usually ride pipe! And in Slopestyle Kaitlyn places 5th and Bryn 9th. Also on a Gnu B-nice, Faye Gulini places 8th in slopestyle. Good job girls!

Temple just won the 2008 MT Baker LBS with the fastest time through the course, 1:26.84, beating out some heavies, some by the likes of Terje, Dirksen, DaBari and TWS Rockie Of the Year, Austin Smith. The Gnu Girls also ripped, Stacy Thomas nabbed 3rd with Barrett in 7th. Please visit the official Mt. Baker Banked Slalom Site for full results and photos.
Gnu girls team rider, Kaitlyn Farrington got a 2nd in the Halfpipe Revolution event this weekend!
Also Val Reynolds and Faye Gulini both placed in the Slopestyle Revolution event. Val and Faye ride Gnu girls boards. Gnu Girls rip!
Kaitlyn Farrington and Lizzy Beerman both competed in the Grand Prix, and it's obvious both have been training with the US Team. It's a new season, and as US Rookie team members these girls have progressed to a new level. I can't wait to watch this year unfold, because I think it holds great things for both of them. Lizzy rode strong and solid all through practice, but had a couple wobbles in the qualifiers, so she didn't make finals.
Kaitlyn rode really well all day, and showed that she's not intimidated by the heavy competition field. Qualifying 3rd in her heat, she went on to make finals and finished 6th! Both Lizzy and Kaitlyn were testing out the 0809 B-nice mtx boards, and the feedback was... they love them! -B.
GNU team rider Elizabeth Beerman-"Lizzy" is on fire. This is her first major podium result at this level and she is currently the leader in the Burton Global Open Series standings... She also placed 6th in the Slopestyle event too Go Go Gnu!

Gnu hosted another successful girls activity. Gnu provided the blank bandanas, paint pens and bedazzlers and the girls created their own custom gnu bandanas. There were several common themes involving lips, teeth, leaves, hearts, peace signs, flowers, and bling, but everyone went home with something completely unique. I got to take pictures of these designs while they were drying, and I might be using some of these ideas as inspiration for next year's board graphics. After tallying the votes from some of the coaches, myself, and a few random lurkers we came up with these top designs. The winner took home a B-pro mtx board! Tough choice though, they were all good. Thanks to everyone for making this activity so much fun!
Gnu hosted an all-girls activity at High Cascade one afternoon and almost every girl in the camp attended. 40+ girls got creative with Bedazzlers, paint pens, and bandanas, going to work on their best "gnu girls" designs. As they layed out to dry, coaches voted on them. The winner received a new B-pro mtx board for her efforts. Second and third even got tee's and hoodies. Everyone had an amazing time... long live the Bedazzler!
The 2007 USASA Nationals went down at Northstar, and the Gnu Girls were charging.
Women's Open Halfpipe: Congratulations to Lizzy Beerman for taking the gold on the B-Nice mtx, and Kaitlyn Farrington for pushing that competition to a new level and landing in 5th on the B-Pro. These girls are the future, and getting better everyday. Look out! Both Lizzy and Kaitlyn rode well in slopestyle too, with Lizzy in 5th and Kaitlyn 13th. I had the pleasure of watching these girls ride, and they have so much natural style... I'm inspired.
Youth Women HP:
Millie Chapman really well in a huge field of girls and placed 8th on the B-Street. Millie is an east coast charger not afraid of ice... or the 6 inches of slush that was on the courses at Northstar. She charged all week and placed 6th in Slalom too.
Caty Oconnor got 2nd in the Slalom. I took some runs through the park with Caty and she rules. Rides the B-pro and is So smooth. She knows how to use her edges and race, I like that. But, she also knows how to ride rails, boxes, and avoid her edges like I wish I could.
Good job Girls!
